Macross - Strike Valkyrie VF-1S (Movie) Revoltech (Kaiyodo)Most people would be familiar with Roy Focker from the 1980's animated series Robotech which was an almagram of three diffrent anime series Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber Mospeada. Roy Focker originated from the series Macross and his personality toned down to just being a womanizing, hard drinking ace fighter pilot instead of a womanzizing, hard drinking, abrasive, over all jerk@$$ of an ace fighter pilot. This particular design for his customized Variable Fighter is apprantly based of its apperance in the movie Macross: Do You Remember Love? acording to the information written in English on the box. It's about 3-3/4" tall and, in true Macross style, has more missiles and ammunition than God. Two forarm mounted duel missile launchers, four hextupile missile pods on its wings, a giant frickin' laser gun and a back pack mounted swiveling turrent make up the VF-1S Strike Valkyrie's total armament, which when put in combination with the fact that it is a giant robot that turns into Flying Death makes it the greatest "Oh S^!*" momment in a persons life if they would ever met it on the wrong side. Unlike my first Revoltech figure, King Gainer, VF-1S uses simple peg and hole system for interchanging the hands which is an improvement making the hands easier to swap. Most of the other joints are Revoltech joints, excluding the hips, theigh's and wings which are all swivels. The knees and other limbs come apart easily, but only if you actually intend to take them off and not just during manipulation like King Gainer so it gets a big point for that. The balance on him is pretty good, enabaling for some decent free standing poses, but I would still advise using the stand for more advanced ones. The stand is also better, having two backs, the first being the simple short and stubby one used for King Gainer and the other is a tall stock with a Revoltech joint attached to it so that you can plug it into the...um...butt of the mech. Yeah. The armor, which is the two weapons packs that attach to his back, the forarm missiles, and leg pads, are all well sculpted and easy to put on and take off. The hands included are a saluting style right hands, a pair of cupping or reaching hands, and a pair of hands designed for holding the gun itself. The gun has two modes. The first is the obvious one it comes in, but it can be seperated into three pieces (the stock, handle, and butt) and the handle replaced with an odd looking circle with a nub on the edge which creates a shorter gun that attached to the missile lauchers that can attach to the forarms. The socket in the left hip is either too shallow of the peg on that hip is too long, ether way, their tends to be noticable seperation on it, but this could be corrected by either padding the bottom of the socket or shortening the peg, once I figure out which is the cause, but either way, caution should probably be held when trying to fix it. Over all, the VF-1S Strike Valkyrie gets four and a half stars out of five. The hip was its only real flaw. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
