Swoop Transformers - Animated (Hasbro)I have been searching far and wide for this pretty birdy and finally found one about a week ago and finally decided to write a review about him. Swoop is the thinnest of the Dinobots and transformers into a mechanical Pteranodon and fights using a massive ball and chain in his ninja-esque robot mode. Swoop has a great range of motion in both modes with flappable wings in beast mode as well as a hinged jaw and ball-hinge jointed legs. Transforming Swoop is pretty much what I've come to expect from Pteranodon mechs but with a few new tricks. The only serious problem I've encountered in his transformation is clipping the wings to his robot mode back. The pegs don't really line up perfectly with the holes which is a little frustrating, but this can be fixed, so no big deal. But what does bug me is the neck of his beast mode doesn't really close up really well and the robot mode head will tend to slide out of his beast modes head. Also, the robot modes head pops off real easy durning transformation. The ball and chain can be held in either hand thanks to deep grooves in the handle that conform to Swoops claws. The ball and chain can be clipped on to his foot via the pegs on his middle toe and the screw holes on the side of the ball. This is good so you don't have to worry as much about losing the weapon. Swoop is loaded with ball joints in robot mode, though shoulder movement can be a little difficult do to the joint design. Swoop is very well balanced and can use his wings for additional support if needed. There was a pop out flame gimmick for the ball and chain that was abandoned durning development, but can be restored. Like Voyager Megatron's cannon, numerous tutorials can be found on how to do this. Over all, Swoop gets four stars out of five. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
