Metamorpho, the Element Man [Collect & Connect] (DC Universe Classics) Review
Metamorpho, the Element Man [Collect & Connect]
DC Universe Classics (Mattel)Element Man? More like, ele-PHANT man! Gahahahaha! It was a joke that had to be made, you understand.

Rex Mason stands a bit over 6.25 inches. I don't have the mud-leg accessory so I'm not sure how high he gets with it, "pretty high" sounds about right. The left leg falls-off a lot, it doesn't swivel smoothly so anytime you try to move it it pops-off. Is this problem present in all of these figures? The rest of the body-parts snap together securely. The paint-job is good for the most part, I'm not liking the neon-orange his right arm is made of though (it's not painted). It's supposed to be molten rock but it's bland and ugly when compared to the the lava-fist accessory. The large hammer-fist is light-weight so it won't weigh-down the arm, all the accessories "snap-on" so they are removable. The silver, mud, and scale-areas are all painted superbly. The head is made of ashen-gray plastic with only the creepy eyes being painted. I keep reading people's complaints about the ears, there's nothing wrong with them, they're perfectly proportionate, The bald head just makes it look like they're sticking-out to the sides a little too much.

There's no sacrificed articulation, all the standard points are there. The head can't face upwards though, nothing can be done about it though without ruining the neck or head aesthetically. Also, obviously the crappy connection in the right-leg is a problem. It only has two positions, straight down and straight in-front, so it's more of a limited click-joint than the swivel it's supposed to be. Other than that, all other joints are tight and work just fine.

It would be fantabulous if all figures were assembled like this Metamorpho or in some standardized swappable-limb method. It would save customizers a ton of hassle if we could just pop the arms and legs apart to switch them around at will instead of risking burns and slashes like we do now. And for anyone complaining about the size or character choice of this "Collect & Connect" figure: Go suck an egg. It's a fully-functional free gift from Mattel for buying all the figures in the series, what is there to complain about?
