Batgirl (Cassandra Cain) (DC Super Heroes (Mattel)) Review
Batgirl (Cassandra Cain)
DC Super Heroes (Mattel) (Mattel)Ever since I read Destruction's Daughter (TPB), I've wanted this figure made for DCSH. I was hoping for a new body sculpt, but you can't win 'em all...

Cassie stands about 5.85 inches, which is great scale-wise since she's supposed to be a tad smaller than the others. Yes, she has the same body and cape as Barbara from the 2-pack, only the belt and head are different. The figure is casted entirely with black plastic so there is no paint-chipping at all. As with all comic-characters, I know there are several different artists who like to draw Cassie with varying pouch-sizes and breast-symbols, I mean bat-symbols!, so I can't complain too much about the puffy belt and bat on this figure. It's a great belt, it's even painted so well that it looks like real sandy-leather (not bright yellow), but it just looks ridiculous on her slender frame. You might consider replacing it with the old Batgirl's belt and giving this puffy one to Batman, and then have Barbara run around without pants because she has no belt to hold them up. I like Babs, in case you haven't noticed. The head looks like the old Batgirl's head (without the hair) with the details filled-in to make it look like a mask. It looks different enough, so it works. The gloves and boots are supposed to be smooth but they are the same as the older figure, and I don't care too much because I like them, but I really would have preferred smoother clawed gloves. The only other paint on the figure is a bit of silver on the mask's stitches and a few silver rings on her gloves (spikes too), upper-arms and thighs. Why are those rings there? Did a new artist decide to draw her like this? Also, I was hoping for a cool swirling cape, or at least an original one...didn't happen. :(

Articulation is what you expect from DCSH, the head doesn't seem to want to face up or down though. Also, getting the waist to move may take a twist of fate. It was so stuck on my figure that I almost snapped it in half jiggling it loose. Surprisingly, the legs aren't restricted by the bulky belt.

Accessories, I don't know, I got mine loose, but she may or may not come with a batarang. That'd be cool if she came with 7 different ones like Batman, eh? Also noteworthy, the plastic she's made of seems to diffuse light, giving it a satin appearance. Buy her if you can, I have never seen this figure in stores and it's been out for a while now, along with Joker and Two-Face.

she comes with the same batarang as babs, which was taken from S3 batman. i think the silver highlights are to help break up the black; they weren''t in the comic, and they dont add much, but it does look a bit less bland.
