It soon led to having Marvel's heroes take on the Street Fighter universe, and then more of Capcom's characters, creating one of the most iconic fighting games/crossovers of all time. There have been a handful of Marvel vs. Capcom collectibles over the years, and the most recent are part of Hasbro's "Gamerverse" sub-line for Legends. The first release was a Target exclusive, pitting Psylocke against Thanos. The packaging is a window box, and a very cool one at that. The box has a dark, starry purple motif with pixel art character names on the front. The sides have not only the names and photos of the figures, but portraits similar to the first MvC. The backdrop inside is the training stage from MvC2, which also appears on the back alongside lifebars from the game. Hasbro may not be able to directly use the Capcom name, but the execution of the package makes it clear where these figures are from. Psylocke uses her traditional design for the MvC series, and it's worth noting this is an all-new sculpt, with plenty of differences from the Apocalypse BAF series release. The default portrait looks great, with a stern look, slight pink wash to the skin, and plenty of purple highlights to the hair. The paint is very clean, and the eyes use printing technology, though it left them a bit fuzzy. Her alternate head is a fiercer look, with her hair flowing in the wind. I noticed the hair on this head is a slightly tougher plastic than the default one, probably because it's less likely to clash with the body. The work on the mouth is very good, even having visible gums, and the eyes look nicer on it as well. At about 6 1/4" tall, Psylocke is dressed in a dark indigo outfit, with a leotard over her torso, various wraps in the upper arms and legs, tall boots, and arm warmers. The colors are very bold, and the paint is mostly good, but there are a few issues here and there. The edges of the clothing on the skin suffer a bit from bleed and fuzziness, and the skin on the torso has a blueish hue due to it being painted onto indigo plastic. The belt suffers from bleed as well, and the sides of the torso have very obvious seam lines, especially on the exposed skin. Paint flaws aside, the sculpt is very nice and quite shapely as well. She could rival Cammy for the thickest ass in my figure collection! A new sculpt means improved articulation for Psylocke, and she has plenty of useful joints. She gets a barbell head, swivel/hinge shoulders, wrists, and ankles, double-hinged elbows and knees, swivel biceps and thighs, ball-jointed chest and hips, pectoral hinges, and an ab crunch in the waist. The joints move very well and are nicely integrated in the sculpt, with the straps on the biceps and thighs serving as rotation points. The heads swap easily thanks to the flexible plastic, and there's also a good amount of hands, including a gripping right, a closed left, a grasping left, and a pair of ninja pose hands. I'm not sure why she needs a gripping hand, as that could've been swapped out for another fist. Interchangeable heads and hands aren't the only accessories Psylocke has, as there are a good number of psychic energy parts as well. The pair of blade-like effects are the key pieces here, designed to clip onto the arms and fit over the ninja hands. The way they fit on makes them a little iffy to work with, but you can get some nice poses out of them nevertheless. There's also a smaller dagger effect designed just to clip onto the arms, and a piece meant to go over the eyes on the alternate head. You have to slide it in under the hair and it's difficult to fit in, but it makes her look extra cool. The second half of this set is the mad titan, Thanos. He has a new head sculpt done by Paul Harding, which fits his power-hungry nature. He has a sinister grin on his face, and the paint all over it is clean, but I would've liked a more clear white finish for the teeth. That aside, he's mostly reuse from the Infinity Gauntlet Thanos from a few years back, but with new sculpts for the forearms, boots, and mantle. The unpainted straps under the shoulders are sort of a giveaway that this is reuse, but the body is nice and tall, putting Thanos at about 8". The violet-blue and orange color scheme is memorable to anyone who's played MvC, and the paint overall is good, even having a shinier finish for the orange parts, but there's a bit of chipped-off color on the middle of the torso. A recycled mold means Thanos doesn't get updated articulation like Psylocke does, but he still gets some useful joints. He has a barbell head, swivel/hinge shoulders, elbows, wrists, and ankles, ball-jointed hips, double-hinged knees, swivel biceps, waist, and thighs, and an ab crunch. I would've liked shin swivels at the top of the boots, but other than that he's just fine, though I found the shoulders pop out pretty easily if you move them up too far. His only accessory is a left Infinity Stones hand, ready to snap and erase Peter Parker from existence, and while it looks nice, I would've greatly appreciated more hand options than just this and the pair of fists he has on in-box. An extra head would've done wonders for him as well. The last time Hasbro did something MvC-related, it was a 1/18 scale two-pack that was Target-only (there was also a Legends retro Iron Man with the Proton Cannon), and while this is also a Target-only two-pack, it's in Legends scale, and backed up by bold colors, great articulation, and useful accessories. The exclusivity means it's unfortunately hard to get, but that only further proves how desirable it is. I'll have to get the other releases now that they're out earlier than expected, but one of said releases is Walmart-exclusive, and we all know how impossible those are to get… - 9/17/25 by Toasted Brains![]() |
