Professor Perry 2-Pack Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - 1990 Movie (Neca)NECA seems to have almost run out of characters from the first two TMNT films, or at least the ones everyone wants. They've done enough to satisfy fans, though, with the latest Secret of the Ooze release being not one, but two versions of Professor Jordan Perry in a single two-pack. I guess they really like him over there. Unlike most movie figures, this set is a much-easier-to-get NECA Store exclusive rather than a Walmart one, and is still available as of this writing. One of the Perrys comes wearing a TGRI lab coat, with a square-patterned shirt and brown suspenders, and the straps are sculpted onto the torso separate from the waist. The other Perry wears an orange jumpsuit, also TGRI-branded, but has that same shirt underneath it. There is quite a bit of shared tooling between both figures, namely the arms, upper legs, and underlying torso covered up by the tops, but both look excellent. The wrinkles have a very realistic appearance, and the paint work is clean, save for some slop on the suspenders for the lab coat Perry. Both have the TGRI badge, with clean printing that can be made out mostly well. Another difference between figures are the heads. Both bear the likeness of the late David Warner, who is properly dedicated on the box, but the expressions are different. The lab coat Perry is a bit awestruck, while the jumpsuit Perry is more neutral. They're dead-on to the actor, and yes, they can be swapped between one another. Trevor Grove sculpted the heads, while everything else was done by Tony Cipriano and Ray Santoleri. Standing 7 1/4" tall, both Perrys have the usual articulation, with barbell heads, chests, and waists, swivel/hinge shoulders, elbows (double-type), wrists, hips, and knees, and swivel thighs. The feet movement is different on both, as jumpsuit Perry has ball ankles, while lab Perry has swivel/hinge ankles with shin swivels. The joints move nicely, allow the figures to take on many poses, even if I don't recall him doing as much as the other characters. One nit I have is that NECA continues to use these ratchet-esque swivel/hinge hips for the movie line when everything else from them now has ball hips, and while they work here with no issue, they really need to switch the movie figures to ball hips full-time. A good number of accessories is included here, with two different pairs of glasses the Perrys can wear (though I lost one of them; stupid couch), along with a helmet for jumpsuit Perry. Plenty of lab equipment is packed in, with a rack of three removable test tubes, three different bottles, two pitcher-like glasses, a retort flask, a volumetric flask, a round-bottom flask, two stands for the rounder flasks, and a conic flask with a big straw poking out. All of these can make for a good laboratory set-up, and going with them are a clipboard, two mutagen canisters (one full and one empty), and two right grips for the various extras. The open right hands are the same on both, but the grips are a bit different, and the soft plastic allows them to hold the wider extras. Having two of the same character in one set is a little odd, but if it's what NECA wants to do, I won't judge. This is a very well-made Perry pack, with plenty of good extras. Again, you can still get these from NECA directly, so I'd advise you to go in now rather than risk missing out and having to pay secondhand market prices. - 4/9/24 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
