Spy x Family (Bandai)As part of his latest mission, agent Twilight, under the identity of Loid Forger, had to get a wife and child. After adopting the adorable telepath Anya, he secured a wife in businesswoman Yor Brair, unaware she was secretly an assassin. Fitting the order of appearances in the manga/anime, Yor is the third figure in the S.H. Figuarts line.

Like Loid, Bandai went with doing Yor's secret life outfit first before her casual outfit, but the expression isn't one you'd expect out of an assassin. The happy, wide-eyed face looks great, however, thanks to what I assume is face-printing technology. The shape of her head is accurate, but she's also got an unusual hairstyle. There's strands of hair hanging down at the sides, but the hair is braided in the back; it's so odd that not even the mangaka knows how she does it. Anyways, she looks great, and she gets four additional faces to go with her default smile: an open-mouth smile, a more serious expression befitting her occupation, a shocked face, and a worried, teary-eyed face.

Standing a little bit over 6", Yor's assassin outfit is primarily black, with straps on her upper body, a long dress, and thigh-high boots. The simple colors mean it was easy to paint over whole areas, and even cast some parts in black plastic if needed. The lines where the dress meets the skin are very clean, as are the red soles on the high heels. The interior of the dress is red with a rose pattern, and said pattern is cut into the dress very well. Bandai also made sure to blend sculpt with articulation, as the dress has slits so the legs can get all the range they need, and the shoulder straps lift up out of the way to prevent them from hindering arm movement.

Yor has plenty of articulation, befitting her action-packed secret life. She has a barbell head along with a single ball peg for the neck, and both have a lot of tilt. The shoulders are ball/hinge/swivel joints with a huge amount of range, and being able to lift up the shoulder straps help. The arms also get hinged elbows (actually swivel/hinge/swivel joints, but they can really only bend) and swivel/hinge/ball wrists, good for various weapon poses. The chest and waist are ball-joints, as are the hips, which also get some thigh twist on the ball. Below those are hinged knees and toes, and swivel/hinge/swivel ankles. While Yor can manage plenty of poses, her high heels mean she's going to have a hard time standing up.

Although Yor doesn't get too much accessories outside of interchangeable parts, she still has quite a bit of useful goodies. As mentioned earlier, she has five different face plates, and not only do they provide different looks for the Thorn Princess on display, they also swap with no issues. She also gets three pairs of hands - open, gripping, and closed - and I would suggest heating up the sockets first before popping them on, since they can be a little snug on the pegs. Lastly, Yor comes with her weapon of choice: a pair of big, golden knitting needles. While they made sound unusual to you, they do the job for her, and they fit in the gripping hands with ease.

Aside from her being a pain in the ass to keep standing up, Yor is a great figure with a lot of reasons to go back to her every now and then to find a new pose for her. As much as I like the (sexy) assassin outfit, I'm much more happy that a casual version of her, alongside Loid, is coming soon, and both will prove much more fitting for group photos.
