Dot Animaniacs (Super7) (Super7)After reviewing the lab mouse duo in Super7's Animaniacs line, it was only natural that I move on to the main three: the Warner brothers and their sister. Crazy thing is, the sister was the only one left at Third Eye. They've been having a lot of sales recently, and that combined with the popularity of the license meant they went fast. While Pinky and the Brain both shared motifs for their packaging, the Warner siblings all get unique designs. In Dot's case, her box has cotton candy stripes. It's pretty simplistic, but I think it fits with the license. There also isn't a lot of tape and plastic strips to worry about either. My one complaint is that the box is too darn big, and I feel it could've been made smaller, given how this isn't a large figure. Dot's default head is an open-mouth portrait, and it looks very nice for the most part. I don't really like how they did the eyes, as the crooked look of them throws off the appearance slightly. She gets two extra heads, one with a closed mouth, and another with hearts for eyes, and the latter of those is my personal favorite. Hello nurse! The paint on all three heads, one of the few parts that are painted rather than colored plastic, is clean for the most part, aside from a small mark on the flower of the open mouth head. Moving onto the body, it looks nice as well, but this is where another issue with her appearance comes into play. Her head is a smidge too large for her body, and it's something that's more noticeable in person. If they shrunk down the head by at least 20%, I feel that it would look nicer. Still, the sculpt is decent, and it does a good job capturing that zany energy. Dot stands around 4 3/4" up to her ears, which makes her one of the smaller Ultimates, but she's still a bit out of scale with lines outside of this one. It's something I'll talk more about as I get to her brothers. The Warners seem to follow the same path of articulation the mice do, being slightly different from the usual Ultimate. Dot has an excellent ball/socket head with plenty of tilt, and the same type of joint is present for the hips and tail. She also sports swivel/hinge joints for the shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees, and ankles, as well as a waist swivel. Most of the joints move well, aside from the left ankle. I noticed that the hinge wasn't really budging on it, but rather than risk breakage like with the Brain, I poured some hot water on it to pop it out, get the hinge moving, then pop it back in. As long as tight joints aren't an issue, Dot is able to achieve plenty of poses. Dot isn't overly loaded with accessories or has anything huge like the others do, but she manages to make due with what she has. Having three head options is great, and there's also an alternate crooked tail if you don't like the straight one. The tails swap with some resistance, whereas the heads could use some heat to pop on more easily. There's also some extra hands, including two relaxed, two style pose, two closed, a left grip, and two extra rights - one with a rose, and another with a butterfly. Like Pinky, the extra hands needed to soak in hot water to get the joints moving, and they will give resistance when swapping, so be mindful of that. Not counting all the interchangeable stuff, Dot has only two little items. The stick of dynamite fits in the gripping hand well, and the fuse effect looks great, but there is some paint bleed. The last extra is a ducky pool floaty, which is made out of softer material to easily fit around Dot's waist, and has a swivel for the head for some reason. I feel that there was enough room to fit in one or two more accessories, like an anvil or some candy. Sure, Pinky and the Brain are the popular ones, but we can't forget who the real stars of Animaniacs are. Dot, while not quite a perfect figure, is still a fun one. She feels great in-hand, and all the extras allow for plenty of ways to display her on your shelf. I guess I'll be going the online route for the last two I need, because I want to complete this line ASAP. - 3/20/23 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
