Stimpy Ren and Stimpy (Super7) (Super7)Everyone knows you can't have Ren without Stimpy, so here's his better half. Stimpy's box is a lot like Ren's; no slip cover, easy to open and replace everything inside, and bigger than you'd expect from Ultimates. Stimpy gets a red box with all sorts of gunk around the window, I assume this is supposed to represent his ear or something. The packaging definitely fits with the show's gross nature, but its size can make finding a spot for it a little difficult, especially when you already have a ton of figures like me. Standing roughly 6“ tall, Stimpy is a pretty chunky figure, but not a heavy one. His body is mostly hollow, which isn't what you'd expect a figure at a premium price point to be like, but to me, he actually feels pretty nice in-hand. The sculpt is recognizably Stimpy, and the neutral happy expression works great for him, especially the mismatched eyes that bring the show's crazy animation to mind. Stimpy gets a second face sculpt with a wide-open mouth, and it's noticeably heavier than the default face. Stimpy's face gets paint, unlike the rest of his body, and it looks good enough aside from the rough edges on the eyes. There are also some areas I wish were painted, such as the ears and nostrils. Much like Ren, Stimpy's thin limbs don't lend themselves well to articulation, and the swappable face gimmick kills any chance he has for torso movement, but he has some decent joints. The shoulders are swivel/hinge joints, and the wrists are swivels that are actually ball-socket joints, though these ones get a tiny amount of tilt on the ball. The hips merely swivel, in contrast to the swivel/hinge ankles, making me wish the hips were also like that. Still, Stimpy can achieve some basic poses, and he too is capable of balancing on one foot, with the larger feet making it easier for him to accomplish as such. Apparently, being larger than Ren means Stimpy gets to have more accessories? Not sure how to explain it either. The extra face looks nice, and they swap easily, and the cat also has three pairs of hands: gripping, relaxed, and style pose. The hands swap easily, though I am worried about the pegs, as they have some noticeable stressing. Stimpy also gets his litter box, with sculpted spots so he can stand in it, along with a bag of "Gritty Kitty Litter." Then he gets a rubber nipple, which can fit over his hair like Ren's does, a fish skeleton, a "magic nose goblin," and his first fart, Stinky. Both the nose goblin and Stinky are cast out of semi-translucent plastic, and Stinky gets a base that plugs into him so he can hover. With a nice sculpt and plenty of accessories, Stimpy is pretty fun figure, and having him and Ren together opens up plenty of display options. While I doubt Super7 will make any more figures from this line, it'd still be much appreciated. Maybe a one-off Sven Höek or a two-figure wave of Commander Höek and Cadet Stimpy? - 1/10/23 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
