Muckman & Joe Eyeball (Toxicity Now!) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Classic Cartoon (Neca)Talk about an unexpected release. While NECA has been no stranger to repaints, it’s rare that they do them, which is why they’re unexpected. Their latest repaint happens to be of Muckman from their TMNT line, in a release titled “Toxicity Now!”. Much like with everything as part of Haulathon, these are hitting Targets in large amounts, so he should be easy to get ahold of. The FHE-inspired packaging is present once again, but this time, they based it off of the “Sewer Heroes” tapes. In addition to getting a nice new illustration of Muckman and Joe Eyeball, it, along with the TMNT logo on the front, glow in the dark. Is that a hint towards what’s special about this variant? Could be. The plastic interior is the same as the regular version, but that’s not a surprise. Muckman’s sculpt is the same, but now he’s cast in a semi-transparent light green that glows in the dark. Neat! The rest of him has been recolored in different shades of green to make him more unique than that. The outfit is a lime green, stuff like the banana and apple are yellow-green, and the trash can calf, manhole cover, etc. are a very dark green. None of the painted stuff glows, however, but put him in blacklight, and it’ll look pretty cool. Muckman stands about 7” tall, just like his non-glowing counterpart, and the articulation is the same as well. He has a ball-jointed head and chest, swivel/hinge shoulders, wrists, and ankles, swivel biceps, waist, and thighs, double-hinged elbows and knees, and ball-socket hips. Despite the body not really being painted, the wrist hinges are still tight like usual for this line, and the biceps have some more tightness as well. The accessories are the same as well. Glowing Garson Grunge has two sets of hands (grasping and gripping), two mouths (open and closed), Joe Eyeball, the rockilizer gun (something that belonged to Tragg in the show), trash can backpack, and a container of play slime. These accessories are all repainted shades of green, but the different hands and Joe are the only things that glow. It’s nice that Joe can glow just like his big friend, and he moves at the head and shoulders like before, but I wish his mouth was still painted. I also noticed that the backpack is much harder to get into the slot in Muckman’s back this time around. The slime is just as fun as always, and I definitely needed it after the slime I got with the regular Muckman went to crap. While I don’t think everyone will want this figure, especially if they already have the regular Muckman, it’s still a pretty fun variant, and you can’t really go wrong with glow in the dark stuff. Sure, recolors aren’t all that special from time to time, but make them unique enough and people won’t mind buying practically the same figure twice. -4/10/2022 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
