Chun-Li Street Fighter 4 (Neca)Over the years, Street Fighter has received a lot of figures, with Storm being the current license holder. Their figures, while great, are pretty pricey (but I guess that can go for any imported collectible), and I have to get my hands on one. Back around the time SFIV got released, NECA grabbed the license for their "Player Select" label and put out two waves of figures including some repaints. The authentic figures are hard to find nowadays, but I got lucky at my local toy store earlier this year with Chun-Li. The packaging is a simple clamshell with nice graphics, with shots of the figure on the side and some general info about the character on the back. It's not a bio but rather information such as country of origin, birthday, height and weight, and interests. Once out of the box, Chun-Li has a pretty good sculpt. The head looks great, though I'm not a fan of the blank stare she has going on here, and the hair doesn't look right to me, but it's nothing too bad. The proportions also look good, though the sleeves are longer than they should be. The paint is very nice and clean, with a bit of wash to bring out certain details. However, the eyebrows don't look right, and the gold accents on the outfit aren't that clean. Still, nothing to really raise a fuss about. Like with (almost) every NECA figure, she is in a 7" scale, standing around 6 3/4" tall. Chun-Li, and the other SFIV figures, were made in 2009, a time where not all NECA figures had a big amount of articulation. Thankfully, this line got lucky. They need to be posed fighting, after all! Chun-Li has a ball-jointed head, swivel-hinge shoulders, wrists, and hips, swivel biceps, waist, thighs, and boots, double-hinged elbows and knees, ab crunch, double-hinged ankles (think ToyBiz), and hinged toes. Everything moves well for such an old figure, and it allows for her to get into all sorts of fighting poses. However, the ab crunch joint is done with a peg and hinge, and said peg pops out pretty easily, though I think that's just an issue with mine. The accessories here are pretty light, only consisting of five different sets of hands for her. There's a pair of fists, a pair of flat/chopping hands, and a v-sign right for mimicking her victory pose. It's not much, but I'm not complaining, though the SOTA version did at least have an alternate head. Overall, Chun-Li holds up surprisingly well for a figure from the late 2000's, and she's definitely earned a spot on my list of all-time favorite NECA figures. There are a couple issues with her sculpt and paint, but they're all minor ones. Finding the rest of this line isn't going to be easy, but I'm certain it can be done. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
