One of the most iconic gaming villains there is, Bowser is a fierce, fire-breathing, turtle-like monster who seeks to capture Princess Peach and take control of the Mushroom Kingdom… when he's not partaking in go-karting, golfing, tennis, or anything else Mario invites him and his friends to. Illumination's Super Mario Bros. movie did the character justice, proving how much of a competent threat he can be while giving him plenty of comedic moments, and Jack Black, just like the rest of the cast, fit him surprisingly well. Aside from two good waves of 5" figures for the movie by Jakks Pacific, they did Bowser to go along with them, because all good action figure lines need a villain or two. With how much of a success Illumination's Super Mario Bros. movie turned out to be, it's not much of a surprise that a sequel is coming. Said sequel, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, looks great, and it won't be too long before it drops, so I'll definitely be seeing it. With Jakks Pacific putting out merch for said movie, I may as well go back and review the second wave of first movie figures. Just a heads up, it's pretty variant-heavy. There are two Marios in this wave, one of whom is wearing the Tanooki suit, which first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 3, and made an appearance late in the film. When news first broke out that a new Super Mario Bros. movie was happening, fans weren't sure how to feel. We all know how the '93 movie turned out, and being handled by Illumination Entertainment, the same company that created the Minions, left some worried. The first trailers showed off something promising, and the end result lived up to the hype, being a big love letter to the franchise. I'll admit I haven't seen it until recently, but I loved it from start to finish. Jakks Pacific made a couple of figures to tie in with it, and you can grab them for pretty cheap nowadays. I kind of figured holding off on them would pay off.
