Marvel Legends (Toy Biz) - Series 15 - Modok Series
Rated 4.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire
I give this plain boring 6-inch figure a 4 because of the customizing potential. It's what every customizer dreams of, an all black figure, and a decent FEMALE figure to boot. And you get 4 wings! You can pop them off and make a fairy army led by Tinkerbelle something, get creative. The hands are a nice size, they don't look awful. The yellow areas are the only painted parts on the body, they have a matte finish. The black is semi-matte, I can't explain it, maybe my figure is just dirty, hah. The hair, eyes, and lips are also painted, but the eyes on mine look way too wide, almost surprised. I don't like how flat her hair is, but if that's the way it's in the comics then I can't complain too much, at least it's decently dry-brushed. I can't understand why they didn't give her forearm...[See More]
Shark
Green Lantern (DC Direct) - Series 2
Rated 5.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire
The Shark is over 7 inches of terror! This is one angry fish. This thing is big and heavy and VERY VERY SHARP! Do NOT give this toy to a little kid, he's going to lose an eye and poke-out everyone else's in within range. The fins and nails are very stiff, very pointy, very dangerous! He even has a sharp fin coming out of his butt, lol. Rows and rows of teeth with an awesome multi-layered paint-job make this an outstanding figure. Every fiber of rippling muscle is clearly visible, every line is crisp and neat, it looks like Shark jumped right out of the recent Green Lantern comics. The fins and webbing between the fingers is translucent. The black suit is glossy while the exposed skin has a matte finish. Basic DC articulation is all there, even the waist, wrists, and ankles are poseable!...[See More]
Scarlet Witch
Marvel Legends (Toy Biz) - Series 11 - Legendary Riders Series
Rated 2.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire
Wanda stands about 6 inches to the top of her head and taller if you count the "hair". I'm not sure what the hell Toy Biz was thinking here by approving this figure, she looked so sexy in the promo pics and then you see the actual figure and it's like a slap in the face with a stinky old fish, just awful. I hate her lips and her nose is crooked. She has almost the same body as the ugly Mystique with the cockroach torso and skinny little legs, and the hair looks like dog-poop. Seriously, I'm not exaggerating, if you could see it first-hand you'd instantly think "poop", it painted horribly, very gloopy. The redeeming quality I could find in this figure is that the gloves and boots are PERFECT for a Red Sonja custom, they're the right size and shape and everything, and the fact that they're...[See More]

Firestorm
DC Universe Classics (Mattel) - Wave 2
Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire
I like running-changes, so much less of hassle than having to hunt down a rare variant of a figure. Technically it’s a completely different guy with the same suit, but I’m glad Mattel decided not to screw with us and let us have both Firestorms fairly. This is the Raymond version which came out first, Jason comes-out soon, if not already by the time of this review. This figure is about 6.25 inches tall, the flames add more height. He’s got a “take on the world” kind of smirk on his face. There is lots of sculpted detail, even the thing on his chest is intricately sculpted, it’s only not visible on the yellow forearms, the yellow overpowers any detail. There are parts that are and aren’t painted, and though it did reduce the chance of paint-rub tremendously, it left the color-scheme a...[See More]
Red Tornado (Modern)
DC Universe Classics (Mattel) - Wave 1
Rated 4.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire
Red Tornado is a robot, right? And he wears a cape? What the heck? Robots have fashion senses now? The Red Guy stands about 6.5 inches tall, just peachy. The body is all very standard, only the gloves and odd boot-cuffs stand-out (this would make the perfect base for the new Captain America design). The whole body is mostly red (would be great for a Daredevil custom too!) with the yellow lines painted-on. It looks like they tried to shade those yellow lines because there are faint but noticeable streaks of red on them. Some things are better left un-shaded guys, it’s not like there’s any detail that needs to be made to pop-out, like on Firestorm. Both gloved hands are in fists, you can slip the included clear-red tornado effect piece over one of them with no worry of damage to the...[See More]

Red Tornado´s original costume was ugly. Just a red costume with purple cape. In 1988 at a comic called CHRISTMAS WITH SUPERHEROES, LJA gived him actually costume as a Christmas present. It was designed by Black Canary. Guess I´m much too old if I remenber that
Great review!!

Is the one you have the one in that picture? If so, then that''s the Classic one, not the Modern variant.

Yeah I have that one in the pic, don''t shoot me though, shoot Cap for adding the wrong pictures :P There''s no "Classic" version on the lists right now, he has to get it added!
Thanks for the info Aneses, now I know who to blame for the suit! It does look a lot better though!
Batman / Batgirl
DC Super Heroes (Mattel) - 2-Packs
Rated 4.80 stars by Henchmen4Hire
[This is for Batgirl only] I love the mixed designs these DCSH figures have, some of them look like they came right out of a cartoon while some of them are much more realistic. Barbara here has the animated feel but the gloves and boots are very detailed, as if they were real gear someone could wear. Also, the colors are very subdued, no glaring neon colors here, everything is easy on the eyes. Babs is 6 inches of much appreciated plastic. This is a wonderful female figure, even her face looks like a woman's (which is sadly a rare feat to see). The figure is gray with yellow boots/gloves, a color-scheme I don't remember, but fits-in with the Batman figure's color-scheme. My major gripe with this Batgirl figure is that it feels very very fragile like the anorexic Blue Supergirl figure. I...[See More]

1/12 scale, though Mattel, like most companies, take a little liberty with it and don''t make the figures exactly to scale.
Brainiac
DC Super Heroes (Mattel) - Series 4
Rated 4.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire
I’m not digging this Terminator-esque Brainiac design at all, I got used to the Superman cartoon’s purple egg-head design I guess, but this is still a cool figure to display or use for an Ultron custom. Brains stands about 6.5 - 6.8 inches tall, depending on how bendy the legs are on your figure. This thing is ridiculously articulated yet almost none of it is visible thanks to the hyper-detailed robotic design. The paint-job is a huge let-down though, the whole figure is a dull sickly unenthusiastic silver with what looks like a baby-blue wash to darken the grooves, blegh. Nice try, guys. :P Like I said, it’s a very detailed figure, all it needs is a better paint-job to stand-out. The shoulder and cranium are clear plastic domes with circuitry underneath, a pretty cool effect. All...[See More]
Penguin
DC Universe Classics (Mattel) - Wave 1
Rated 4.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire
Cobblepot (hah, what a horrible name!) stands about 5.75 inches tall. After collecting 6-inchers for so long, Penguin here looks very short, I can’t believe I used to collect 5-inch figures and liked them, almost an inch shorter than this figure, now I can’t stand to look at them. :P The face is shaded improperly, the darker and lighter skin-tones are waaay too far apart on the spectrum, the pale skin looks like it has orange-juice in the wrinkles, not good. The face-sculpt itself is pretty cool, nice and ugly, though I would have liked a little more influence from the old animated Batman series. The sculpt of the entire figure is awesome actually, wrinkles, buttons, cuffs, monocles, bow-tie, everything is great, it’s just the odd paint-scheme that sets it back. Orange shirt with purple...[See More]
Gorilla Grodd [Collect & Connect]
DC Universe Classics (Mattel) - Wave 2
Rated 4.80 stars by Henchmen4Hire
I’ve got surprisingly little to say about such a large figure. 8 inches of plastic and I know practically nothing about the character. Gorilla Grodd? A giant talking monkey as a master criminal? Sure, why not! The grizzly fur, texture of the skin, indifferently sour facial expression, oh yeah, that’s a tortured genius right there. I will call him mini-me, and I will hold him, and love him, and call him Grodd, seriously, I have nothing to talk about… Grodd is the Collect-N-Connect figure for wave 2 of DC Universe Classics. I’d complain but all the figures in this wave are worth getting I think. Harley and Aquaman are must-haves, the Superman figs are great for customs, and Firestorm looks cool, he’s getting a running-change very soon so there are 2 completely different versions of him,...[See More]
Black Manta
DC Universe Classics (Mattel) - Wave 2
Rated 5.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire
Hah, you’ve gotta love these old-school bland-as-icy-hell character designs, all black with a helmet, now that’s a cool villain. Black Manta is so confident he’s a bad-bum that he goes up against Aquaman and the Justice League wearing nothing but a giant black latex glove and a can on his head. Bad-bum to the bone, baby! Of course that giant trident might have something to do with confidence… Manta is about 6.5 inches to the top of the dome. I like this contraption, the helmet is connected to the backpack with two ribbed hoses, the whole thing is nicely detailed and has a weathered look to it. The trident is huge of course, like 7.5 inches, but it’s all silver, no shading so it’s kinda bland. It’s still sculpted with detail though, you just can’t see it too well because of the simple...[See More]
