Nick Fury Spider-Man (Toy Biz) - Animated - Series 5 Rated 4.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire The immortal Nick Fury is further immortalized in plastic. I'm glad this guy was released but I wish there were more SHIELD agents made, like that pretty red-head he was always talking to on the cartoon...Anyway...
Nick stands at 5 inches of muscle with basic articulation, including the knees and elbows. He wears the standard dark blue suit with white trimmings of top-ranked SHIELD officers. Utility belts, ammo straps, and a gun holster are all sculpted onto him with high detail. The SHIELD emblem is emblazoned on his left shoulder and belt. He also has a name tag so you'll always know who kicked your arse. The resemblance to his appearance on the cartoon is pretty good, with the stubble, eye patch, and white streaks in his hair. His face is in a constant scowl, it almost looks like...[See More]
So I can pretend to be the SHIELD Agent I''ll know I''ll never be? I don''t know about ''pretending''. I feel pretty tough when I wear mine. Of course, I wear it under my shirt so noone else sees it
I wish I still had my SHIELD pin. I had a little metal one and I lost it on a vacation. I havent been able to find another one like it.
Spider-Man 2099 Spider-Man (Toy Biz) - Animated - Series 7 Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire The year is 2099 and Spiderman is still around! Now he's poisonous and he can fly, so it might not be the same ol' Peter Parker, but who can tell under that mask anyway, right?
This version of Spiderman is from the future! He stands 5 inches tall and has articulation at the neck, elbows, knees, legs, shoulders, and ankles! And despite all the articulated points, just like Scarlet Spider, this guy still has that cartoon look to him. Spiderman 2099 is based on the comic book of the same name. His whole body is painted a twilight-blue with some red designs on his mask and chest. The design on his chest looks like a skull-spider and is pretty nifty-lookin'. He has 2 red spines near each elbow, which look a little like the spikes on Batman's gloves. The hands are interesting because they...[See More]
Octo-Spidey Spider-Man (Toy Biz) - Animated - Series 6 Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire Octo-Spidey is another variant of Spiderman but I think he's worth getting because he was on the Spiderman cartoon...and he's cool-looking.
Spidey stands at 5 inches tall and has articulation everywhere, except his waist, just like Scarlet Spider and Spiderman 2099. He has the same suit as the original Spiderman and everything is crisply painted. He has a very good paintjob, even the spider on his back is very neatly done. Octo-Spidey comes with 4 posable tentacles that look better and work better than the tentacles Dr Octopus uses! The tentacles are 5 inches long each, nicely detailed, and can be bent and posed in any crazy position you want! All 4 are attached to a belt that can be fastened to his waist, and also attached are small cables that lead to a helmet-visor. The belt and...[See More]
Batman (Power Cape) Batman Beyond (Hasbro) - Basic Series Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire Bats stands at 4.75 inches (and 5 inches if you count his pointy ears). 4.75 inches is a very good thing, considering this Batman is only a teenager and would look weird if he were any taller. He has articulation at the shoulders, neck, and legs. The shoulders have a free-range of movement so his arms can move almost anyway you want. The annoying thing about Bats's arms is that he doesn't have elbow joints, so he can't be posed in any really threatening positions. On the Batman Beyond cartoon, Bats uses rockets on his feet and small wingflaps under his arms to fly and glide around with, and so does this one! The fabric wingflaps are red on the front and black on the back. They have small rings on the tips to clip onto Batman's wrists while the other ends are permanently clamped into his...[See More]
Blight Batman Beyond (Hasbro) - Basic Series Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire This guy is so cool...well, at least on the Batman Beyond cartoons he was one of the more fascinating villains, but you're here for a figure review, not a character analysis...
Blight stands at 5 inches. Not 4.5 inches or 4.75 inches like some other "5 inch scale" toy lines. He has articulation at the neck, arms, and legs. He looks exactly like he is supposed to, clear radioactive green with his skeleton glowing through. Blight has a glow-in-the-dark spine, ribcage, and skull. His hands are dusted with the glowing material as well so in the dark his hands look like they are flaring with radioactivity. The darkglow-paint is high quality and it is VERY bright. Good stuff. The way his legs and arms were sculpted allows you to position him in many many menacing poses. You can do...[See More]
Green Arrow Justice League Unlimited (Mattel) - Blue Cards Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire Look Everyone, It's Green Arrow. This is the part where you scream out in giddy joy. Now that you've restrained yourselves, allow me to continue with the review.
Finally Oliver Queen has been placed into the almost-5-inch scale. It only took what, since Total Justice came out, about 7 to 8 years to do it? Even longer if you count in the short Super Powers version of him, but I shall show no more hostility towards the makers...those lazy, lazy makers...
Our beloved Emerald Archer stands at 4.73 to 4.75 inches with basic 5-point articulation. There is something about the leg molds of this new Justice League line that makes most of the figures have some sort of minor standing complication. It's as if they all have one leg slightly shorter than the other. You wont have to fiddle too...[See More]
Supergirl Superman - Animated Series (Kenner) - Series 3 Rated 4.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire Supergirl stands almost 4.5 inches, a perfect size for teenage superheroes. I like this white-shirt, blue-skirt, red-caped suit she has. The old all blue suit was too bland and it made her look like a clone of Superman. She has articulation at the arms, neck, and waist. Her legs are molded out of her skirt and the skirt is sculpted. A fabric skirt would have made her look a little slimmer (and it would have allowed her legs to move). I guess Kenner didnt want to sculpt her panties or something...Her short red cape is also made of plastic, and is removable, but it looks fine (although it stops her head from turning since it hits up against her long hair). Supergirl comes with white/grey armor pieces that snap on to her chest, arms, and legs and with two blaster-cannons that attatch to her...[See More]
Brainiac (Evil Alien) Superman - Animated Series (Kenner) - Series 1 Rated 4.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire Superman's greatest nemesis, Brainiac stands about 4.75 inches with basic 5-point articulation with bonus articulation at the waist. He looks exacty like he did on the cartoon with the blue skin and purple/silver/yellow suit colors, and that is always a good thing. His right hand is open so it looks like he is shooting one of those crazy beams he uses out of his hands. His left arm is bent with a fist so he can hold the purple blaster he comes with which shoots a large yellow projectile. But like most shooting weapons, once the spring inside gets worn out, it becomes almost useless. Brainiac comes with his fancy hover-chair-tank vehicle [albeit, a VERY simplified version of it] which was a good idea since he used it often in the show [eventhough he can fly without the chair...]. It looks...[See More]
Iolaus Hercules - Legendary Journeys (Toy Biz) - Basic Series Rated 4.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire Here is another review in honor of =Hercules: The Legendary Journeys=, the great Michael Hurst, and all the manacles and all the wooden swords and arm guards they inspired me to make and eventually break some foolhardy time later.
What is Hercules without a trusty side-kick? Just a guy in tight leather pants, that's what.
Iolaus stands 5 inches tall and has all the basic articulation, including at the elbows and knees. He is muscular but it isn't overdone. 5 inches is great but it is strange, considering that on the show Iolaus was only about as tall as Hercules's chin...but I'm not complaining. Again, like with Hercules, Toy Biz did an awesome job at making the head sculpt. It looks exactly like Michael Hurst (the actor who played Iolaus on the show) even down to his golden curls....[See More]
Hercules II (Archery Combat Set) Hercules - Legendary Journeys (Toy Biz) - Basic Series Rated 5.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire I loved watching the show (back when they still gave it... :[ ) so I am so happy this figure was made.
Hercules stands a bit over 5 inches tall, which is great because he's supposed to be taller than everyone. He was made in an animated-semi-realistic style (not too much detail but enough so that he looks like he did on the show) which is also great because he fits right in with almost any other 5-inch animated toy series! Toy Biz did a splendid job with the head sculpt, it almost looks exactly like Kevin Sorbo (who played Hercules on the show). He has one of the best long-hair sculpts I've seen. Herc has a punching feature which is a curse and a blessing. This is a fun feature because when you press the button on his back, his right arm rises and his elbow stretches out, making it...[See More]
