Steel DC Super Heroes (Mattel) - Series 3 Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire Has there ever been a bad-looking Steel figure? No, never. And this DCSH version is the best so far!
Steel stands 6.5 inches tall, in-scale with the other DCSH figures. I thought this fig would just be a repainted Superman but the muscles are larger and it has sculpted armor on the boots and some bolts on the stomach, the basic color-scheme is flat-silver and dark gun-metal. The rivets and armor plates look great.
-He has a rubbery belt with two "boxes" on either side. They have flexible ribbed hoses that connect to the top-side of the boots. Is this his flight-system? I don't remember Steel ever wearing this belt, but then again I've only seen him a few times in comics so what do I know :} I think he would look better without it though.
-The left forearm has that big manacle-thing he...[See More]
Somone stole it at a party I had. They took my Jesues figure too
Hercules Marvel Legends (Hasbro) - Annihilus Series Rated 4.90 stars by Henchmen4Hire The only Hercules I know is Kevin Sorbo, that's the Herc I know, that's the Herc I love. I heard of Marvel's Hercules but I knew he wouldn't have the same personality, still, that didn't keep me from buying this figure!
Herc stands about 6.75 inches to the top of his head, and about 7 inches if you count his hair. This dude is massive! When they say he can go toe-to-toe with Thor and Hulk, they aren't kidding! From the few pictures I've seen, this figure looks exactly like it's supposed to, it's mostly very neatly-crafted as well. The picture on the package shows he has dark-brown hair but the actual toy has reddish-brown hair instead and the blue eyes are decently painted. Aside from that, everything looks great! Herc is ripped with veins bulging out of his arms. He has a big hysterical...[See More]
Great review as always!!....I for one grew up reading Hercules, Thor , Hulk..so when these figures came out I had to have em all...I saw Herc on the pegs at a local Toys R Us. After pushing several 5 year old boys to the cement floor I reached out for the plastic Greek God...This is when Karma showed its vengeful head. Due to a packaging flaw ol'' Hercs head was broken at the neck, I looked down at the broken 5 year old bodies that were a direct result of my greed, And I said..."Hell I think I saw another one at Walmart!!!!" and ran away gleefully. All in all I like this figure, But I will customize him...its what I do.
Hah, yeah I got lucky and found all of these guys in a far-off Walmart. Now that I saw thre rest up-close, Herc is the only one I wanted. Hulk looked okay but I''m running out of room, that guy was frikkin huge @_@
Spider-Man (Iron) Spider-Man Origins (Hasbro) - Series 2 Rated 4.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire I'm amazed at how quickly (how soon after the Civil War comics came out) Marvel got this figure out. They must have been flooded with mail demanding this be made, and looks like it worked! Unfortunatey, this Spidey looks exactly like I expected, like a rushed job.
This dude is freaky. Iron Spidey stands 6.25 inches, that's already way too tall for a Spiderman figure. And it's not like they can use the old "the suit adds a foot in height!" excuse like with Iron Man because Spidey's suit is skin-tight, not bulky at all. The suit looks good even-though the spider-design was tweaked slightly to accomodate articulation, a fair trade-off, especially since the modifications aren't even noticable unless pointed out.The body sculpt is appropriate (and original?), he's a lean, mean, shiny red...[See More]
That leg thing happened to my spidey as well, but i could stand up on its own. Also is it just me or do the hand joints and the knee joints seem lose? Fav part of it has to be the cybernetic legs on his back. Very good review Doc.
I agree, total ruh job. My girlfriend got me it for christmas and its pretty bad. I hope the Scarlet Spider is better if they make it
Beast (X3) Marvel Legends (Hasbro) - Annihilus Series Rated 3.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire :( See that sad face? That says it all. I like Beast as a character so I won't hold anything against him due to Hasbro's inexperience with the Marvel Legends line. This version of Beast was modeled after the X-Men 3 movie, and in appearance they did a pretty good job. He looks like a guy with fur on him, he even resembles Kelsey Grammer to an extent, but the face is a little too narrow and generally too small, you could easily use this head on a 5-inch scale custom and it wouldn't look out of place. The huge, major, I'm-gonna-git-you-sucka' part about this figure is that he's too short! 5.80 inches is NOT acceptable for a Beast figure. Granted though, I have never held an official X3 movie figure like Rogue or Cyclops to measure, this Beast could be perfectly in-scale with them. That may...[See More]
hasbro ran out of plastic doing him and emma double him in size and make emma more sultry like the pics on her package make her they better do better on the next set i cant believe 10$ also - highway robbery
Destroyer Marvel Legends (Toy Biz) - Series 15 - Modok Series Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire At first glance, okay, it's just a big robot, big deal. But when you've got fearless Norse Gods cringing at the mere mention of the Destroyer's name, that's when you know you've got something good in your hands. I was going to scrap this figure to make a custom but now I don't want to damage it...strange...
This Iron Mountain stands 7 inches tall, he looks like a big muscular guy in skin-tight armor. I caught a glimpse of the normal Thor-buster Iron Man and this figure seems to have the same basic body with a different head and it's cast in black plastic with silver streaks on him to give the illusion of gun-metal. The effect is decent but not totally convincing. It still looks like a black figure with hair-thin shiny streaks on it. There are some round metallic-blue protrusions on the...[See More]
If you really want one all you have to do is paint a ThorBuster black and sculpt the face-mask. I don''t know if it has the little hemisphere things but you could sculpt those too. There''s just no justifying the price
The chest plate is glued on because Thor Buster is the body but a different chest piece and head. I want a destryer though. I have Beta Ray Bill and an older Thor, now I need Destroyer. YA know in the commics Thor was in the destroyer armor for a while. Imagine Destryer with a red cape and wings on his hemet...oh and Moljorner of course. Could make an interesting custom or a neat variant fig. Are you listening Toy Biz...oh I mean Hasbro?
Supergirl Superman (DC Direct) - Basic Series Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire Seems like every super-hero has at least one or two alternately-designed suits, what are they for? My theory is that they're back-up suits just in-case Lex Luthor decides to sink a continent on a Justice League laundry-day. My cape has a coffee stain! Aaaahhh! Where's my black and silver suit!? Where's my blue lasso!? Where's my extra pair of orange spandex underwear!? And as accurate as my theory is, sometimes they change their suits because of crazy time-traveling 10-year-long story-arcs in comics where everyone dies and then they are revived and then a big yellow robot comes along and eats everyone so new heroes must be born to take the places of the fallen heroes...whatever, I like Supergirl's hair with the head-band. And her skirt wasn't flapping up in the wind, revealing herself...[See More]
Poison Ivy Batman - Hush (DC Direct) - Series 1 Rated 5.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire The good folks at DC like to screw with us and give us beautiful action figures that are all completely out of scale with each other, even within the same series! And although this may annoying to DC collectors, it is a god-send to the Marvel Legends fans. Odds are there is at least one perfectly 6-inch DC figure in one line or another. The Huntress from the Hush line was perfectly in-scale, and so is this Poison Ivy!
Pamela stands 6 inches tall and a little taller if you count her long, flowing, orange-red hair. The hair is well-painted and high-lighted but it has the same problem some of the female Marvel figures have (like Elektra), it looks like a bunch of flowing spaghetti instead of real hair. It's still pretty though, just like the face-sculpt. The eyes on DC figures are amazingly...[See More]
Avalanche X-Men - 2006 Series (Toy Biz) - Series 3 Rated 5.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire I don't know much about Avalanche but this guy has such an narly suit! It's definitely much more detailed and fitting than the old blue/silver suit I've seen him in.
Avalanche stands almost 6.75 inches tall! The dude is huge! I'm not sure if he should be that tall but he looks great! The suit's design is very appropriate for a guy who can crumble entire mountains into the sea. The main suit is dark-blue but it's heavily covered with orange/dark-grey rock and iron armor, beautifully detailed with seams, belts, bolts, and screws (the armor is very dark, nothing like the bright silvery-color in the Toy Biz photos). There's an "A" on the front of his belt instead of on his forehead like before. He wears a rocky helmet that covers his head completely with only the eyes and screaming mouth...[See More]
the base is the most intresting part..lol.. its like a horse comb.. you wind it up and it vibrates around the table on the bristls. I removed that part of it doc but used the OG base on my custom. looks like rocks.
Hey, do you guys thoink they used the smc sShocker as ab base?
Spider-Man (Red Costume) Spider-Man - Classics (Toy Biz) - Series 1 Rated 3.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire Remember in the comics when Spiderman wore that hydro-suit?...what about when he wore the anti-vampire-suit?...the anti-symbiote suit?...the paragliding-suit?...no? That's right because HE NEVER WORE THOSE SUITS. Please, if any toy companies are reading this, DO NOT make any more wacky suits for Spiderman. Are you guys actually making money on them? Stick to making the original suit flawlessly articulated and then you guys can so ahead and monkey around with a shark-suit Spiderman. :)
Spiderman stands about 5.875 inches tall, I assume that's in-scale with other 6-inch figures since Spiderman is about 5' 10''. This Spidey is one of the better designs (especially the eyes) but definitely not one of the best articulated. The web-design on the suit is engraved an filled in with black. It...[See More]
He seems to have articulation similar to the SMC Daredevil. We want a super articulate Spidey becuase Spikey needs to be able the crouch down really low.
Iron Man vs Mandarin (Green) Marvel Legends (Toy Biz) - Face Off Sets - Series 2 Rated 3.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire Iron Man has to have the worst villains EVER. A guy with a bunch of rings that shoot stuff? Come on! Iron Man is a frikkin' tank that can fly! A little ring isn't going to do anything to him! If his enemies were the Green Lantern Corps, then you'd have a story!
I can't give an exact estimate on Mandarin's size (because I scrapped him for parts before I reviewed him) but let's say around 6 inches to be safe. Overall, this is a sloppy figure. The paint is awful everywhere and he is prety much immobile because of the big rubber robe he wears. The robe is green with sloppily-painted yellow flames AND IT SMELLS BAD! As soon as I opened the package, like a punch on the nose came the awful stench of rancid plastic. It isn't removable either. The base body is a completely black Archangel body...[See More]
