Conrad "Duke" Hauser (Desert Ambush)
G.I. Joe - Rise of Cobra (Hasbro) - Collection 1 - Wave 1
Rated 4.00 stars by Collector1
Figure I got a bit of a backlog of figures needed to be reviewed so let's start at the top shall we? I picked this version of Duke up because the Reactive Impact Armor Duke looks way too thin. Even with the body armor removed, this Duke still looks just right. Duke is wonderfully detailed and very realistic. Slavish attention was put into making him as movie accurate as possible. The dragon skin (yes that's what it's called, look it up) body armor can be removed by undoing a pair of clasps on each side and slid up over his head. The helmet as a digital camera and nightvision goggle set up attached to the front of the helmet and can be lifted up or down over the figure's head. The connection feels a little too weak and that makes me nervous when positioning it so I'd advise being careful....[See More]
Hulk (Grey)
Marvel Universe - Fury Files (Hasbro) - Wave 2
Rated 4.00 stars by Collector1
This was actually my second Marvel Universe figure. I had seen the original Green Hulk version but was put off by it do to the head sculpt. While the Grey Hulk has the same head, I am a fan of the Grey Hulk and felt that the scale really worked for this personality who has never been shown as exceptionally gaint, just really tall and overly muscled. Hulk has fairly standard articulation, swivel wrists and hips, hinged ankles, ball hinged, elbows, knees and shoulders. The head his a swivel as is the abdomen. The detail's are all really good with popping veins and tattered blue jeans. The theigs are shadded with gray paint, a similair shade to the Hulk's skin so I'm guessing it's suppose to be extra tears in his pants. All the joints are good and tight, not too loose, perfect for possing....[See More]
Blaze Master
Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen (Hasbro) - Deluxe Class
Rated 1.00 stars by Collector1
I don't like this figure. I don't like it at all. From the robot mode to the poorly made and planned out joints, this was a waste of eleven dollars. Blaze Master is an interesting concept, a civillain helicopter that apparently belongs to Channel 7 News. Honestly, I had high hopes about him. The top of the copter fold up into his arms while the blades are split in two, the main half staying on his left arm while the other half of the rotor is loosly attached to his right arm. Very poorly I might add. I'd advise, if you do buy him, just keep them together. The rotor can be spun around by depressing a button on his arm or the copters side. The chest is poorly cobbled together from the cockpit and the windsheild. It looks horrible. The rear-rotor splits in half and folds up to form his...[See More]
Optimus Prime
Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen (Hasbro) - Leader Class
Rated 4.50 stars by Collector1
I have to say...wow. Just wow. This is an incredible figure. From the complex transformation to the intracet design and detailing, this is almost perfect save for a few minor flaws. His truck mode is practicly a photocopy of the truck used in the film. The metal backing on the rear of the cab, a detail that seems to indicate that the movie Optimus would haul a flat bed trailer, or atleast the truck he copied would, is a very nice touch an also function as the battery housing. By the way, I would advise getting rid of those batteries as soon as humanly possible. Trust me on this, I'll get to it. Anyway, at the core, this version of Prime is what Transformers are in purest form, a puzzle crafted from plastic plates and metal screws. I have never owned such a complex Transformer. Like the...[See More]
Breakaway
Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen (Hasbro) - Deluxe Class
Rated 4.50 stars by Collector1
I had been searching everywhere for Breakaway but did eventually find him when I went in to get my oil changed after they refreshed the toy aisle at Wal Mart. I snatched him up in an instant. Breakaway is one of the best deluxes I have. Very articulated, excellent detail and an adorable head that demands you hug him! Hug him darn you! He needs love! Okay, seriously, the Autobot flyer turns into a Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II or some semblance of it at least. The paint scheme is pretty simple, dark brown, tan, some silver along the back ends of his wings and a series of odd green and dark green patterns over the wings and tailfins. No visible weapons in this mode, or at least ones that could be used. The minigun that is built into his right arm is very visible in this mode as part of...[See More]
Simon Belmont
Castlevania (Neca) - Basic Series
Rated 4.00 stars by Collector1
If I didn't know better, I'd have said that this guy was a Mideval Conan. Simon Belmont stands at about seven inches tall, give or take a few centimeters. He's ripped and has more weapons and accesories that I know what to do with. Simon is heavly based on his apperance in the first two Castlevania games. The armor looks like real leather at first glance. Soemthing that throws me off is that he only has one shoulder pad, but even that looks great and sculpted to look like it was stitched on to the chest piece. Really, all the detail on this guy is incredible. The fur looks like fur and the metal looks like...well plastic but it all looks really good. The face sculpt is something else. Simon looks enraged, ready to tear Dracula's face off with a steely gaze. The paint application is almost...[See More]
The Fallen
Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen (Hasbro) - Voyager Class
Rated 4.00 stars by Collector1
One of the original Thirteen Transformers born into existance, The Fallen fell from grace and lost his name and hops from dimension to dimension seeking to bring an end to all things under the leadership of Unicron. This is but another incarnation of the wicked Gaurdian of Entropy according to Hasbro fiction guru Forest Lee, the same character but a diffrent body in other words. So if this is true, we may actually see Unicron in the third film, a prospect I am both excited and trepidatious about. Either way, The Fallen is presented here in the Voyager Class price point to impressive results. This guy helps drive home the fact that these are alien robotic lifeforms with an unnerving frame, seven fingered hands and a head vaguly reminicent of a Xenomorph. He's also loaded down with...[See More]
Waspinator
Transformers - Animated (Hasbro) - Deluxe
Rated 4.00 stars by Collector1
Been meaning to do a review of this guy for the longest time. Waspinator was one of my favorite characters from Beast Wars and when he appeared in Transformers Animated I was really excited and when we got the toy after so painfully long in my area I was even more hyped. Unfortunately, he doesn't really live up to it. Waspinator transformers into a green and black technorganic wasp. Admitedly, his Beast Mode is more developed than Blackarachnia but it has some problems. His robot mode arms slipt apart to form his beast mode front legs. The way they connect at the wrist makes it rather annoying or difficult to get the seperated. His forlegs are blocked by the edge of his wasp head at the shoulder joints and the connection between the bipart limbs is really weak and they can pop apart...[See More]
G.I. Joe Team Set #2
G.I. Joe - 25th Anniversary (Hasbro) - Box Sets
Rated 4.50 stars by Collector1
All right this is going to be one long review, so lets get started and avoid too much fluff. First up to bat is Shipwreck. This is thirteenth version of this character to be made and perhaps one of the most awesome. If you look at his face you will reilize that Shipwreck looks like Sean Freakin' Connery which makes this the greatest G.I. Joe ever by default. Carefully painted on his right forarm is a green tatoo of an ancor with what looks to be like a dragon curled around it. The other paint work on him, his shirt, pants beard an hat are all really good with no visiable runs or airbubbles. A gun holster is strapped to his right leg which you can fit a revolver into. The revolver fits best into his right hand. His other weapon includes a spear gun that is almost as long as he is tall....[See More]
Sideswipe
Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen (Hasbro) - Deluxe Class
Rated 4.50 stars by Collector1
I was able to pick Sideswipe here as a lucky break, the very last one on the pegs out of a sea of Mudflap's and Sideways' along with the Scout Class figure Scalpel which is another one I'll have to review. Anyway, back to Sideswipe, what we have here is a concept model Corvette StingRay, a car that is made of awesome. And metal and plastic, but mostly of awesome. It's dead on to the actual car with sleek lines and a low frame built for speed. Of course that low frame is the first weakness of the figure. In vehicle mode, it rides so low that if you try to roll it, you risk scratching the shoulders and knees of Sideswipe's robot mode which are stuffed up under the car. Still, it is a pretty mode to look at. The sideview mirrors are made of soft rubber, presumably so they won't break as...[See More]
