To this day I have no idea what Mattel was thinking when they decided it made perfect sense for the Doctor Fate variant to have some gold parts and some yellow parts. I knew if I ever got one I'd have to quickly remedy that. Maybe it was cheaper to keep the limbs yellow, but then why paint the torso and helmet gold? It just looked incredibly silly. Don't get me wrong, I love the classic blue and yellow Fate has. As a kid he was one of my favorite SuperPowers figures even though I knew very little about him. But I always wanted to see him painted in a bright gold, and I always thought the modern Doctor Fate, Hector Hall, was portrayed with a darker blue than Golden Age Fate, Kent Nelson. Since I was repainting the whole figure anyways I swapped out his lower legs for a pair of New52 Superman legs that look much closer to how modern Fate appeared. Add some Citadel Burnished Gold and some Model Masters Artic Metallic Blue and I think he looks much more unique and comic accurate. Thanks for looking! ![]() |
