Hello all. Before I start, let me just say that I'm glad to finally be submitting a figure to this site instead of just admiring all of the work by the excellent customizers featured here. Okay, now I can move on.

So, I moved to Japan 3 mths ago and I thought, "Well, I guess I'll just have to give up customizing now." Little did I know what a bounty of customization opportunities would await me. One such oppurtunity presented itself when I saw that a Toys "R" Us here had clearanced all of its magnetic Microman toys, which curiousity demanded for me to snag a couple of. It turns out that Microman figures are in the same scale as Showdown figures, so I started tinkering.

Now I have to say, I've been wanting a decent Iron Man for a while now. I mean, he's one of the best villains out there right now. I liked the idea of Iron Man's modular armor (with addable parts like the old toys) from over a decade ago, and the mechanical look of these Microman figures, so I mixed them together. The guy has so many suits, I figure he wouldn't mind a new one.

This was a really simple custom. I took a Showdown Iron Man's head, put it on a Magne Microman figure, and repainted everything so that it was all the same shade of gold and metallic red. Really, the hardest part was finding a decent paint sealer. You know, 'cause I don't speak Japanese an' all. There you have it. A more mechanical-looking Showdown scale Iron Man. And his limbs are attached magnetically, so feel free to dismember him as often as you'd like.

Just a little note here- if you are considering working with Microman figures, there heads and hands are designed to be interchangeable. Most figures come with something like 10 extra hands in different poses. Also, the figures use GI Joe size screws in their thighs and ankles, and for many, smaller screws in their lower waist.

Thanks for the comments guys. Good luck Greymonk. Hmm... Doc, that's a great suggestion. Now that you mention it, the silver areas are a bit distracting.

This is GREAT! I love it and it gives me encouragement as I'm about to start on some showdown scale pieces myself.

That's really cool, the silver areas look out of place though, how about painting them with translucent red? (so they look metallic red)
