Mullighan Helicopter Pilot GI Joe Character: This meanders, but here we go… Glenda was an early 80’s Argentinian repaint of ARAH Scarlett. During the 25A era, there was a Scarlett figure repainted in the Glenda deco, but not as Glenda. In the Classified Series, there is again a Glenda (as Glenda, using an obvious Scarlett base). This made me want to make another Glenda figure, but I had already done one in ARAH format that I was pretty pleased with. So, I used the last name of the Classified Series version, Mullighan, and simply used it as a codename. A fitting codename a Joe character who might have been a professional golfer, or maybe a really bad one, in civilian life. So let’s go with that. Mulligan is now her own character, unlinked to Glenda other than being helicopter pilots. Or maybe she's Glenda's American cousin with the same last name? Design: The head is fugly, but it has glasses that could be painted as sunglasses to match my custom Wild Bill from not too long ago. That Wild Bill itself was inspired by the Classified Series figure. Like the CS Glenda, I stuck to something close to a body suit, this time mostly made up of NS parts. The somewhat bulky upper legs, looking like material scrunched up under the harness, gives Mulligan some visual distinctiveness from both Glenda and Scarlett. The gunbelt holster is set to line up with the opened vest, indicating the vest might be pulled over to the side for cleaner pistol access. The helmet is a prop piece, as it can’t fit the head properly over the sculpted headset. Colors & Paint: I already made a proper Glenda custom, complete with a super-shiny silver vest. The Classified Series toned that down to medium metallic grey, which looked good, so I took that for the vest. I matched the rest of her outfit to my most recent Wild Bill custom, which was also inspired by the Classified Series Wild Bill. A not-quite-pine green for the main, with minty green for the other gear, plus some black and a few spots of tan. Sculpting & Modifying: The top of the head, glasses, shoulders, sleeve edges, lower legs, pins, and thigh screw insets have all been reworked with epoxy. The Cobra symbol from the helmet and its breathing mask were cut away. Thanks for looking. ![]() |
