Fifty percent of any military manual on explosives consists of mathematical tables for calculating amounts of explosives needed, safe firing distances, power requirements for firing circuits, and formulas for cutting structural steel, timber, and breaching various forms of bunker material. LIGHTFOOT has memorized all of them, as well as all the conversion tables for foreign and non-military explosives. He's not taking any chances. Being the demolitions specialist for Night Force, it is his responsibility to see that all their missions end with a "bang"!

"Lightfoot has made an art form out of being careful. You might say he's a Zen fussbudget. His eyes sweep the ground before him in measured quadrants, alert for tripwires, signs of digging, and out-of-place vegetation. He sniffs the air for that tell-tale plastic explosive smell of 'dead rubber.' Lightfoot may take twice as long to clear an area, but at least you won't get any nasty surprises."

Shockwave

SHOCKWAVE was the youngest member of the Detroit Police Department's S.W.A.T. Team, and the holder of two citations for bravery when he signed up for, and was accepted by, the G. I. Joe Team. When asked why he left a promising career to work longer hours for less money, kicking down doors on better armed adversaries, Shockwave replied, "Do you really think I do this for the money?" An expert in executing successful assault tactics, Shockwave is now a member of the Night Force unit as the commander of their post-daylight search and destroy missions. "Everybody on a S.W.A.T. team has a specific job, like in a choir. Choirs have tenors, baritones, altos, etc. S.W.A.T. teams have sharpshooters, climbers, and 'inside men.' Shockwave is the Night Force door kicker. He's the first inside and the first to find out how bad it really is. He's also a half-decent tenor when his voice is in shape . . . "
