Kenny Pickett made his NFL debut in 2022 and was quickly named the starter by head coach Mike Tomlin. He became the first rookie quarterback in NFL history to throw a game-winning touchdown in the final minute of the fourth quarter in two straight games. He finished his rookie season with 2,404 passing yards, seven passing touchdowns, and three rushing touchdowns in 13 games.
