Aztek was trained from birth by the Q Foundation to create a champion against the coming of the evil god Tezcatlipoca. After Aztek joined the JLA, he found out that Lex Luthor financed the Q Foundation because he wanted his own hero as a mole in the JLA, but Aztek refused to work for Luthor.
