Sanchez Marquez began his wrestling career at the local Santino Bros. Wrestling Academy. On August 6, 2016, he made his in-ring debut as Jake Atlas, and began competing in various California promotions. In 2018, he had his initial involvement with WWE, appearing on an episode of Celebrity Undercover Boss with Stephanie McMahon. In 2019, he officially signed with WWE.

Atlas made his NXT debut on April 1, 2020. He later participated in the Interim NXT Cruiserweight Championship round-robin tournament. Atlas had appearances on 205 Live and engaged in a feud with Santos Escobar over the Cruiserweight Championship.

In January 2021, Atlas teamed up with Isaiah "Swerve" Scott for the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament but was eliminated by the eventual winners MSK. He was released from his WWE contract on August 6, 2021. Following his departure, Atlas appeared at Ring of Honor's Death Before Dishonor XVIII. Shortly after, Atlas announced his retirement from professional wrestling due to mental health reasons.

However, on December 28, 2021, Atlas made a comeback and debuted in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), winning his match against Serpentico on AEW Dark. His televised debut on January 7, 2022, on AEW Rampage resulted in a loss to Adam Cole, during which he sustained a knee injury. Atlas was released from AEW in May 2022 following a domestic violence arrest.
