On May 22, 2013, Enzo Amore made his debut on NXT television as a heel, portraying a stereotypical cocky, Jersey Shore loudmouth character. Despite being quickly defeated by Mason Ryan in his first match, Amore found his footing in NXT by forming an alliance with Colin Cassady, who had also fallen victim to Ryan's dominance. Calling themselves "the realest guys in the room," Amore and Cassady quickly established themselves as a dynamic duo, even defeating Ryan in a handicap match.
Their feud with Ryan soon gave way to a rivalry with Alexander Rusev and his manager Sylvester Lefort, during which Amore and Cassady turned face. The two participated in a gauntlet match for a future NXT Tag Team Championship opportunity, defeating several teams before ultimately falling to The Ascension. In November 2013, Amore suffered a broken leg during training, sidelining him for several months.
Amore made his return to NXT in June 2014, saving Cassady from an attack by Lefort and Marcus Louis. The two then entered the NXT Tag Team Championship tournament, making it to the second round before being eliminated by The Vaudevillains. Amore and Cassady's rivalry with Lefort and Louis continued, culminating in Amore's victory over Lefort in a match where the loser's hair was on the line.
The duo soon formed an alliance with the debuting Carmella, who had accidentally cost Cassady his hairdressing job. On the March 11, 2015 episode of NXT, Amore and Cassady defeated The Lucha Dragons to become the number one contenders for the NXT Tag Team Championship. However, they were unable to capture the titles, falling to Blake and Murphy at NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable.
Amore and Cassady's success continued on the main WWE roster, where they debuted after WrestleMania 32. They quickly made a name for themselves, defeating The Ascension in a tournament to become number one contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championship. While they were unable to capture the titles, Amore and Cassady went on to feud with several top tag teams, including The Dudley Boyz, The New Day, and The Club.
In mid-2017, tensions began to rise between Amore and Cassady, leading to Cassady's shocking betrayal and attack on his former partner. This triggered a intense personal feud between the two, with Cassady emerging victorious in their first encounter at Great Balls of Fire. However, Amore ultimately got his revenge, defeating Cassady in a Street Fight match on the August 21, 2017 episode of Raw.
Enzo Amore's NXT and WWE career has been a rollercoaster ride, filled with both triumph and adversity. From his early days as a loudmouthed heel to his successful run as part of one of the most popular tag teams in recent memory, Amore's journey has captivated audiences. And while his rivalry with Cassady marked a tumultuous end to their partnership, it has only added to Amore's legacy as one of the most memorable and polarizing personalities in sports entertainment.
