Danny Davis was both a referee and wrestler, competing as the masked “Mr. X”, and as “Dangerous Danny Davis” at various points throughout his career. He is best known for showing blatant favoritism as a referee, particularly for the team of Bret Hart & Jim Neidhart (The Hart Foundation). This eventually led to him being removed from his referee position, at which point he helped to manage the team and began wrestling alongside them and on his own.

Davis was later reinstated as a referee and redeemed himself by fulfilling the role competently. He remained with the WWF, working in this capacity until 1995. He then went on to wrestle on the northeastern independent circuit, where he acquired the WWA (World Wrestling Alliance) championship. He was inducted into the New England Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2010.
