Karl Lykos once found a cave where still-living pteranodons lived. they bit Lykos, which left him with the ability to drain other beings' lifeforce, and when he absorbs the lifeforce of Mutants, becomes a pteranodon-man under the name Sauron, after the JRR Tolkien character. Sauron is one of the few non-mutants who have formed part of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.
