Cobra Commander ordered Dr Mindbender to create an inspirational general from the DNA of the greatest generals of history, who was named Serpentor. However, as these generals were also conquerors, Serpentor arranged for Cobra Commander's death (he survived, but disappeared for a while) and became the Cobra Emperor until he was killed by Zartan.
