The champion of the boxing world, Rocky Balboa, has fought in many matches and kept his reigning title. Forgoing his boxing career, he decides on retirement for the rest of his days. Before he fully retires however, he is called out by a young and arrogant boxer, Clubber Lang. Quickly losing under Lang's superior power and speed, Rocky sets off into a depressive state. Only the quick intervention by ex champion Apollo Creed does Rocky get out of his depressive state.
